Anniversary of HM Mohammed V’s Visit to Tangier .. Exhibition Kicks Off in Rabat
This exhibition, which also commemorates the 75th anniversary of the events of April 7, 1947, in Casablanca as well as the 66th anniversary of the glorious visit of the Father of the Nation to Tetouan (April 9, 1956), features a rich collection of manuscripts, books, periodicals and newspapers. The event that runs until April 16 also includes photographs of the trip of late HM Mohammed V and the Royal Family to Tangier, taken by the photographer and journalist Bernard Rouget.
The exhibition aims, according to its initiators, to highlight the sacrifices of the people of Casablanca, who joined the movement led by members of the resistance and the liberation army to defend the fundamentals and sacred values of the Motherland.
On this occasion, BNRM Director, Mohamed El Ferrane, stressed the importance of this exhibition in safeguarding the national memory, while highlighting the library’s contribution to preserving the richness of the national documentary heritage.
The BNRM intends to publish a special bibliography of the late HM Mohammed V, including books, periodicals, papers and audiovisual documents, to make it a reference for researchers in this field, he said.
For his part, the High Commissioner for Veterans and former members of the Liberation Army, Mustapha El Ktiri, welcomed youth’s remarkable presence at this ceremony, which reflects their attachment to the founding values of the Moroccan nation.
The High Commission intends to strengthen its coordination with the BNRM and the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, to safeguard the national memory, he told M24, MAP’s 24-hour news channel.
For his part, Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, said that this « exceptional » exhibition, which captures three major events in the history of contemporary Morocco, is a moment of loyalty and recognition to the sacrifices made by the architects of the Kingdom’s independence and freedom.
