Morocco’s Medicinal Stock is Subject to Continuous, Strict Monitoring – Health Minister
Responding to an oral question at the House of Advisors, Ait Taleb insisted that local medicine manufacturers are required to respect the reserve stock in accordance with Decree 263-02 of 12.06.2002 to manage the phase of disruption until the situation is rectified.
The Minister then indicated that the « confusion » that can mar the supply of certain drugs in general is a global problem that does not concern only Morocco.
Regarding diabetes drugs in Marrakech, Ait Taleb stressed that the Ministry has allocated an annual budget of 1.5 billion dirhams to meet the needs of all public health institutions. The bulk of this envelope is intended for the purchase of drugs and health equipment for chronic diseases.
In this regard, he reported that the cost of acquiring medicines for patients suffering from high blood pressure exceeded 72 million dirhams in 2020, adding that more than 258.1 million dirhams have been allocated to drugs for diabetic patients.
The Minister added that the budget allocated to insulin amounts to 6.6 million DH, which represents about 43% of the total budget allocated to anti-diabetic drugs in Marrakech.
