The government does not intend to lift subsidies on butane gas, despite the increase in international market prices, said Thursday in Rabat, Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas.

« For the time being, the government has no plans to revoke the subsidy of butane gas, despite the record prices of this substance on the international market, » he stated at a press briefing following the weekly Cabinet meeting.

The government is aware of the importance of this material in the daily lives of citizens and will continue to subsidize it through the compensation fund, Baitas added.

Butane gas prices reached an average of 856 dollars per metric ton by the end of February, compared to about 539 dollars per metric ton a year before.
