Spanish minister: its important to build a trustful relationship with morocco

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, the Spanish Minister of Education Pilar Alegria, stressed the fundamental importance of establishing “stable and trust-based” relations with Morocco.

In an interview with Cadena Ser radio station, Alegria said that « establishing stable relations based on trust with Morocco is essential. »
In this context, the Minister clarified that the existing diplomatic relations with Morocco are considered « strategic », highlighting the important role played by Morocco in the fight against illegal immigration and terrorism.

She added that Morocco is a « strategic » partner for Spain from an economic point of view .
On the other hand, the minister defended her country’s position on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, through which Madrid considers the Moroccan initiative for autonomy to be « the most serious, realistic and credible basis » for settling this artificial dispute.
