The newly appointed  US ambassador to Morocco, Puneet Talwar, was sworn in at the US State Department, marking his arrival in the Kingdom to begin his term of service.

“Congratulations to newly sworn-in U.S. Ambassador to Morocco, Puneet Talwar! We wish him and his team the best in furthering and strengthening the U.S.-Morocco partnership,” the U.S. State Department for Near Eastern Affairs wrote on Twitter.

US President Joe Biden proposed Punete Talwar as Ambassador to Morocco last March, after US ambassador to Morocco under the Trump administration David T. Fischer departed.

Puneet Talwar has held key national security and foreign policy posts in the State Department, White House, and US Senate.

He is an accomplished policy expert and formerly held the positions of Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director at the National Security Council, Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, and Senior Professional Staff Member at the Committee on Foreign Relations in the US Senate.

The US department of state deemed him as a qualified candidate to serve as ambassador to Morocco due to his vast experience as a policymaker with in-depth understanding of the Middle East and North Africa, his shown leadership abilities, and his demonstrated ability to organize teams.
