Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil said his Ministry provided a total of around MAD 3.5 billion to help support sector professionals, in light of the continuous rise of fuel prices.

“95% of the targeted professionals have benefited from 6 rounds of support since March 2022,” he added in his response to an oral question in the House of Councilors.

A total of 170,000 vehicles were covered by fuel subsidies in Morocco through an electronic platform developed for this purpose in order to submit applications as well as to be tracked by professionals, according to the same source.

“The registration process for obtaining additional support for transport professionals will begin on Friday, November 11th,” he further stated, noting that this process “comes in accordance with the decision made by the government during its meeting on November 3.”

“The draft law will also apply to the two parties (the carrier and the shipper) in reviewing the prices between them in the transportation process in the event that the price of fuel changes between the date on which the price of the service was agreed upon and the date of providing the service itself,” specified the same source.

Abdeljalil also denied that the price of public transportation for travelers has witnessed an increase.

“The transport of goods is liberated and does not contribute significantly to the inflation of prices and consumables,” according to the same source.

The same government official announced that “Morocco has 25 airports, including 19 international airports covering different regions across the Kingdom; It has a very sufficient total capacity of 39 million passengers annually, up compared to an average passenger rate that does not exceed 25 million passengers previously.”
