Morocco reiterates commitment to IAEA objectives
Morocco’s Permanent Representative in Vienna, Ambassador Azzeddine Farhane reaffirmed Tuesday the Kingdom’s full commitment to achieving the objectives of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and strengthening the international nuclear security system.
Morocco remains fully committed to its regional and international partners to contribute to the strengthening of the international nuclear security system and the achievement of the objectives of the IAEA, said Farhane, who presented the Kingdom’s statement to the IAEA Board of Governors (6-10 March).
This commitment goes according to an approach that advocates multilateral action aimed at preserving the delicate balance between the “safe, secure and peaceful use of nuclear science and technology” and strict compliance with commitments on non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and nuclear disarmament.” Morocco fully adheres to the principle that the primary responsibility for nuclear security rests entirely with States, in accordance with their national obligations and international commitments duly undertaken, said the Ambassador, speaking under Agenda Item 3 on “Nuclear Security: Comprehensive Nuclear Security Report 2023”.
