Busquets announces his departure from Barça at the end of the season
FC Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets will leave the Catalan club at the end of the season at the age of 34, after having spent his entire career in the Blaugrana jersey, he announced on Wednesday
« The time has come to announce that this season is my last with FC Barcelona, » said the three-time Champions League winner in a video on his Instagram account. In fifteen professional seasons with the club, Busquets won, in addition to the 2009, 2011 and 2015 Champions Leagues, eight Spanish league titles, seven national cups and a few other trophies, including three club world cups.
He is also world champion (2010) and Europe (2012) with Spain. He is currently on his way to a ninth league title, with Barcelona 13 points clear of runners-up Atlético Madrid with five games remaining.
The press recently raised the possibility of a transfer to Saudi Arabia, where Cristiano Ronaldo is already playing, and where Lionel Messi could also leave .
