Marhaba 2023: 33 boats and 9 companies will be mobilized

Morocco is actively preparing the « Marhaba 2023 » operation to offer members of the Moroccan community residing abroad a return to the country in complete safety and with improved services, said this Tuesday, May 9, before the House of Representatives. , the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil.

In an intervention before the members of the Commission for Infrastructure, Energy, Mines and the Environment, Mr. Abdeljalil specified during the  »Marhaba 2022 » operation, the national ports recorded, during the period from June 15 to September 15, a traffic amounting to 3.2 million travelers and 558,000 vehicles, carried out by a fleet of 33 boats connecting Moroccan and European ports. He also noted that the port of Tangier Med took the lion’s share with 59% of passenger volume, against 21% for the port of Tangier ville and 19% for the port of Nador.

In addition, and with a view to the success of the « Marhaba 2023 » operation, Mr. Abdeljalil assured that his department is working on the development of a plan concerning the fleet and the programming of trips, the strengthening of the offer and the diversification of transit points, in addition to the effort to ensure that ships scrupulously respect the specifications and international standards in terms of maritime safety and security.

He mentioned, in this regard, the mobilization of 33 boats from nine different companies ensuring all the connections between the Moroccan ports and those of Spain, France and Italy for a total of 538 weekly sea crossings. and an estimated capacity of 500,000 passengers and 136,000 vehicles per week, specifies MAP.

He also assured that his department is working actively to guarantee the success of this operation with the ambition of improving the public services provided to members of the Moroccan community residing abroad upon their return to the country, in cooperation with the National Maritime Committee, the Moroccan-Spanish Joint Maritime Committee, the National Transit Operation Committee or the Moroccan-Spanish Joint Committee in charge of preparing the transit operation.
