The high level of development of the automotive industry, the result of a far-sighted Royal vision

The high level of development of the automotive industry in Morocco, the 3rd most competitive country in the world, is the result of the far-sighted vision and constant monitoring of HM King Mohammed VI, as well as the integrated strategies deployed over two decades, said stressed, Tuesday, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.
This multidimensional Royal vision aims for the transition to a prosperous Morocco that creates opportunities and decent jobs, which meets the aspirations of citizens, said Mr. Mezzour, who was answering a topical question about the development prospects of Morocco. automotive ecosystem in Morocco, during the weekly session of oral questions in the House of Councillors.
The Royal Vision is based, moreover, on fundamental elements related in particular to the security and stability enjoyed by the Kingdom, openness to foreign investment, infrastructures with high logistical and energy capacity and the promotion of industrial land in addition to Moroccan skills in the industrial field, he added.
In this sense, the minister said that Morocco currently has a production capacity of 700,000 vehicles per year, with the prospect of reaching one million vehicles by 2025, noting that 480,000 vehicles have were made last year.
And to maintain that thanks to the work carried out over a period of 20 years, the automotive ecosystem in Morocco currently has 160 factories which employ 220,000 Moroccan talents, including 15,000 engineers working to create new high-quality cars, manufactured inside and outside Morocco.
Mr. Mezzour also pointed out that this industrial ecosystem, the foundations of which were laid by the Sovereign, has enabled Moroccans to nurture the ambition to manufacture and create a Moroccan brand of cars by taking advantage of an ecosystem that reaches a 65% integration rate, with an engine assembled in Morocco and a chassis and seats manufactured locally.
He recalled in this sense that His Majesty King Mohammed VI chaired, on May 15 at the Royal Palace in Rabat, the ceremony of presentation of the model of the car of the first Moroccan manufacturer and the prototype of a hydrogen vehicle developed by a Moroccan, two innovative projects that will strengthen the promotion of the « Made In Morocco » Label and consolidate the Kingdom’s place as a competitive platform for automotive production.
Mr. Mezzour noted that « what was a dream a few years ago, namely to manufacture a car with a Moroccan brand of high quality and accessible to the public, or a Moroccan luxury hydrogen car which would compete with the most international brands in sight, has become a reality today thanks to purely Moroccan skills, ensuring that the government ensures to accompany and support the new generation of Moroccan entrepreneurs inside and outside the Kingdom.
