The general population and housing census (RGPH) of 2024 aims for operational efficiency and the optimization of budgetary costs, assured, Thursday in Rabat, the High Commissioner for Planning, Ahmed Lahlimi Alami.

Speaking during a meeting with the United Nations Development System (SNUD) dedicated to the presentation of the preparatory work for the RGPH 2024, Mr. Lahlimi said that this census, of paramount importance for our country, will part of the major digitalization of HCP services.

Mr. Lahlimi also stressed that the next census will be in line with the New Development Model of the Kingdom as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

He also explained that the computer solution that will be adopted includes mobile modules on the tablets used by the investigators as well as web modules intended for monitoring fieldwork at the central, regional and provincial levels, through applications that will allow the division of the national territory into “census districts”.

In this sense, Mr. Lahlimi affirmed that the collection of data from households, their exploitation, and their secure transfer to the data management center will be carried out in real time on a tablet, integrating validity and consistency tests, which which will eliminate the costs of printing, transporting and archiving questionnaires in paper format.

Furthermore, he was pleased with the quality of the partnership with the various United Nations agencies, noting that it translates into fruitful actions and exchanges that are part of a dynamic of continuity. For her part, the coordinator of the United Nations Development System (SNUD), Nathalie Fustier, said that the census is an absolutely crucial exercise for Morocco in the context of its development, welcoming the HCP for all the maps designed and for the quality of the data and the innovation it demonstrates in the use of digital and digital tools.

She also highlighted the importance of the partnership between the HCP and the various agencies making up the SNUD, noting also that the census makes it possible to have information accessible to all actors in a transparent manner, and will make it possible to better understand all the characteristics of Morocco and to articulate all this with the SDGs.

In this regard, she clarified that the UN is working tirelessly on this subject, noting that this will contribute to improving the achievement of the SDGs by 2030, by having a kind of benchmark on the areas where better work should be done. . This meeting was also marked by the presentation of the integrated IT solution for the RGPH 2024 cartographic work, the presentation of the cartographic work of the RGPH, as well as a presentation of the draft census questionnaires. The representative of the Morocco multi-country office of UN Women took part in this meeting, Leila Rhiwi, the resident representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in Morocco, Louis Mora, the representative of UNICEF , Speciose Hakizimana,
