Morocco Unveils Ambitious Plan to Secure Technological Sovereignty in Infrastructure Development

In a groundbreaking move, Morocco’s Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, together with Minister Delegate Fouzi Lekjaa, announced an innovative initiative aimed at ensuring the country’s technological autonomy in the face of rapid advancements. This strategic program involves the establishment of a cutting-edge technological complex and a comprehensive training ecosystem, empowering Morocco to attain “strategic autonomy” and unparalleled proficiency in key sectors such as water, construction, road infrastructure, ports, and meteorology.
Acknowledging the dynamic nature of the technological landscape and the growing demands for efficiency and quality, Minister Baraka emphasized the necessity of a robust system built on expertise. He affirmed that “the government must serve as the technical reference point to preserve and enhance our national technological sovereignty.” To achieve this, the minister presented a plan of priority actions to reinforce and modernize the technical frameworks within the Ministry of Equipment and Water.
Central to the action plan is an investment in high-level education. The plan aims to attract the brightest minds and skilled engineers by strengthening training at the prestigious Hassania School of Public Works. Furthermore, work-study programs at the Institute of Applied Technology will be implemented, focusing on developing new majors aligned with Morocco’s evolving needs. By cultivating the necessary skills and knowledge, the ministry aims to independently undertake infrastructure projects of the highest quality.
