Algerian Coast Guard kills two French-Moroccan young men near Saïdia Bay
Two young French-Moroccans were shot dead by Algerian border guards when they were lost at sea aboard their jet-ski, near the northeastern coastal city of Saïdia, in the Algerian maritime area bordering the Moroccan coast.
According to available information, the two deceased had mistakenly entered Algerian waters near “Marsa Ben M’hidi” after getting lost in waters, along with three others.
The Moroccan-French nationals were then allegedly shot by Algerian border guards, leading to the deaths of two of them.
same sources confirmed that one of those riding the jet skis is still currently detained by Algerian authorities, while no trace of two others.
A TikTok video of a Moroccan on a boat showing the body of one of the jet-skiers floating in the sea went viral and sparked huge condemnation across social networks.
People who know the victims in France identified them as Bilal Kissi et Abdelali Mechouer.
The same sources confirmed that the Regional Hospital in Berkane received two bodies, while an investigation is being conducted by members of the Royal Gendarmerie in Saidia and Berkane into the incident.
