The 57-year-old suspect was arrested during a security operation carried out in Meknes, after the suspect was pointed to the database of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), indicates a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
This pointing operation showed that he was the subject of an international arrest warrant under a red notice issued by the French judicial authorities for his involvement in a case of intentional homicide, committed on August 20. , against a Moroccan national residing in France, the statement said.
The investigations also showed that the defendant is also involved in a case of death threats against his wife and children residing abroad and who are currently in Morocco under police protection by the national security services, before the arrest of the suspect on Wednesday, the same source said.
The defendant was placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation carried out by the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to determining the ins and outs of this case and to identify the other criminal acts of which he is accused.
This arrest is part of international security cooperation relations and the efforts made by the Moroccan security services to prosecute people wanted internationally in cases of transnational crime, the statement concludes.
