Covid-19: Morocco Reports 309 New Cases Last Week

Some 309 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Morocco during the last week, the Health and Social Protection ministry said on Friday.

The number of people vaccinated for the first time reached 24,923,869, those who received two doses 23,425,735, while 6,886,234 people received three injections of the vaccine and 61,009 received the booster dose, the minsitry pointed out in its weekly note on the epidemiological situation (August 26 – September 1).

The new weekly tally brings the overall number of contaminations since the first case on March 2, 2020 to 1,275,864, with a weekly positivity rate of 6.4%.

The new cases were recorded in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (101), Great Casablanca-Settat (84), Souss-Massa (60), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (17), Fès-Meknès (15), Marrakech-Safi (12), the Eastern region (7), Guelmim-Oued Noun (5), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (4), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (3) and Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (1).

The overall number of deaths remains at 16,297 (overall case fatality 1.3%), with zero case recorded last week.

Active cases numbered 328, with no severe or critical case reported.
