Top Senator Meets Speakers of Jordan’s Parliament Chambers

The Speaker of the House of Councilors, Enaam Mayara, met with the Speaker of the Jordanian Senate, Faysal Akef Al-Fayez, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Safadi, in Amman on Sunday. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in diverse areas.

On this occasion, Mayara praised the historic and deep friendship between the two Kingdoms based on solidarity and mutual respect. He emphasized that this exemplary relationship draws strength from the fraternal ties between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother, His Majesty King Abdullah II.

The Upper House Speaker recognized the alignment of the two nations’ perspectives on Arab, regional, and global affairs achieved through continuous consultation and coordination under the astute leadership of both Sovereigns.

He also emphasized the complementarity between the two countries, which are major players in Arab affairs, particularly in their historical support and defense of the Palestinian cause. HM King Mohammed VI serves as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, and HM Abdullah II is responsible for the Hashemite trusteeship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds.

Mayara, who is leading a large parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Jordan, expressed gratitude towards the Hashemite Kingdom for their clear support of Morocco’s territorial integrity. He also welcomed the opening of a Jordanian consulate general in Laâyoune.

He further emphasized the importance of increasing economic cooperation between the two countries to match their strong fraternal and strategic political and diplomatic relationship. In this respect, he highlighted the significance of parliamentary cooperation through exchanging expertise and experience in common areas of interest, including renewable energies, agriculture, tourism, and vocational training.

Emphasis was placed on the importance of reestablishing the direct Casablanca-Amman air link, which has been suspended since the COVID-19 crisis. It was also emphasized that all agreements and conventions signed by the two countries, particularly in the economic field, should be implemented in accordance with the Joint Declaration issued at the end of King Abdullah II’s working and friendship visit to Morocco on March 27 and 28, 2019.

The Jordanian Senate President emphasized the value of parliamentary delegation exchanges in enhancing bilateral relations, raising them to the expected level, and benefiting both peoples. He also reaffirmed his country’s complete support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.

He emphasized the necessity to enhance economic cooperation in various fields and implement all joint agreements to boost trade and investment. He expressed appreciation for the progress made in Morocco and his country’s desire to draw on Moroccan experience in the political arena, particularly regarding party life.
