The inhabitants of Es-Semara, led by the city’s elected representatives, Chioukhs and notables, staged a sit-in on Sunday to denounce the « appalling terrorist aggression » that targeted the city, the spiritual Capital of the Kingdom’s Southern Provinces, last week.

At the sit-in, participants condemned in unison this « cowardly and vile act » targeting innocent civilians, calling on the international community to intervene to put an end to this provocation and find a definitive solution to the long-running conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.

Brandishing national flags and banners, participants chanted slogans describing the perpetrators of the Es-Semara aggression as « terrorists », pointing out that « the Moroccan people and the Royal Armed Forces are mobilized behind HM King Mohammed VI to confront any attempt to harm the Homeland ».

At the end of the sit-in, a statement was read out in which the inhabitants, elected representatives, Chioukhs and notables of the city of Es-Semara denounced a « barbaric and despicable crime which targeted civilians in the middle of the night », and condemned a « cowardly and desperate maneuver aimed at undermining the Kingdom’s territorial integrity ».

They also condemned maneuvers by enemies of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity to undermine UN and international efforts to find a definitive solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara on the basis of the autonomy plan.

While calling the international community to witness, the participants in this gathering urged the latter to intervene urgently to point the finger at the aggressors and take firm action against all those who want to undermine the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, expressing their total mobilization behind HM King Mohammed VI, symbol of the unity of the Kingdom and guarantor of its stability.
