The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity has initiated the establishment of a fully furnished and equipped accommodation for families affected by the Al Haouz earthquake in Degouj douar (located 2 kilometers from Talat n’Yaaqoub) within the province of Al Haouz.

As part of its humanitarian assistance and social support program for the douars impacted by the disaster, this act of solidarity, executed in collaboration with the National Ports Agency and local authorities, has facilitated the accommodation of 54 households, totaling 240 individuals, encompassing widows and persons with disabilities from the Degouj douar, stated the Foundation’s press release.

Situated on land made available by a patron, the 10,000-square-meter platform has been developed and technically prepared to create the best living conditions for the recipient families, highlighted the same source. The accommodation spaces have been arranged within 64 containers or modular homes, comprising 54 dwellings (ranging in sizes of 36m2 and 18m2 depending on household size), a nursery (consisting of two containers), and sanitation facilities.

The Foundation also took the responsibility of equipping the accommodation, furnishing each unit with interior décor, kitchen amenities, household linens, and cleaning supplies. The childcare facility was also furnished with appropriate items and recreational activities to create a welcoming environment for children.

Degouj Douar, situated at an elevation of 1,300 meters, stands as one of the most severely affected areas by the earthquake within the Al Haouz province.

The Foundation remains mobilized, actively continuing its efforts to distribute humanitarian aid tailored to the specific needs of affected populations in the provinces of Al Haouz, Chichaoua, and Taroudant, concluded the press release.
