Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, said that his talks, Tuesday in Rabat, with US Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, Bonnie Jenkins, are part of the Moroccan-US coordination on world security and stability, particularly in Africa.

In a statement to the press following these talks, Bourita stressed that his discussions with the US official are also part of the operationalization of bilateral cooperation, in order to promote security and stability in the African continent.

In this regard, he underlined that Marrakech will host an important meeting on the fight against trafficking in chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction in Africa, and against their use by separatist and terrorist groups.

These talks also focused on the means to fight terrorism in the world, he said, reiterating Morocco’s condemnation of the terrorist attack on a post at the Jordanian-Syrian borders, which killed three US soldiers and injured several others.

Presenting the Kingdom’s condolences to the United States, Bourita said that « these terrorist operations shall be rejected and vigorously denounced », adding that Morocco remains fully and continuously in solidarity with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
