Upper House Speaker Holds Talks with Madagascar’s Senate Counterpart

 The House of Councillors Speaker Enaam Mayara held, on Wednesday in Rabat, talks with Madagascar’s Senate Speaker Richard Ravalomanana, on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Conference on South-South Cooperation.

The talks provided an opportunity to review the excellent historic relations between the two countries’ leaders and peoples, said the Upper House in a press release, adding that they also reiterated the shared willingness to give a new dynamic to bilateral relations and strengthen them in various fields.

On this occasion, Mayara praised the level of bilateral relations that had been reached, recalling Madagascar’s historical and symbolic importance for the Royal family, as well as for the collective memory of the Moroccan people.

He emphasized that boosting relations between the two countries is in line with HM King Mohammed VI’s strategic vision of strengthening South-South cooperation and promoting the African continent at all levels.

Mayara stressed the importance of parliamentary cooperation in developing bilateral relations, as well as the need to intensify coordination and consultation in all regional and international bodies.

For his part, Ravalomanana expressed his thanks for the warm welcome he had received during his visit to Morocco, while commending the Kingdom’s development in various fields.

He highlighted the strength of political relations between the two countries and stressed the need to redouble efforts to enhance economic cooperation and benefit from all available opportunities and capacities.

He added that the two countries should give new impetus to their cooperation in the parliamentary sphere, by reinforcing mechanisms for consultation and dialogue.

In this context, he reiterated Madagascar’s full solidarity and continued support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara.
