Minister of Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, announced, on Tuesday in Fez, that an ambitious action plan would soon be put in place to prepare the Kingdom’s cultural capital to host the 2030 World Cup finals.
« It is necessary to opt for an innovative approach in the conception of this action plan, which concerns the material, logistical and infrastructure aspects in accordance with FIFA’s specifications,” said Laftit, who was chairing an extended meeting devoted to Morocco’s preparations for this global competition, in the presence of the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa.
In this respect, he stressed the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to make available all the means and resources necessary to accelerate the implementation of this « urgent action plan » and the optimal implementation of its provisions as soon as possible.
The Minister also noted that the aim is to devise an action plan that will be translated into reality by a large number of agreements at local level.
He highlighted the importance of this meeting’s timing, which provides an opportunity to deeply reflect on the work to be carried out (transport, accommodation, connectivity, sports infrastructure) and the challenges to be met in each of the strategic areas, and to exchange views on the measures to be implemented to meet FIFA’s requirements.
Laftit announced that regular meetings would be held to monitor the implementation of this action plan, calling on the various parties involved to play their full part in carrying out this project in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines.
He recalled that this gathering, which is the first stage in a series of meetings in different regions of the Kingdom, takes place two months after an enlarged meeting was held in Rabat as part of the intensive preparations for the organization of the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
