Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication is focusing on revitalizing youth centers and broadening their program offerings after the closure of 146 centers in 2021.

By 2024, the number of closed centers has been significantly reduced to 75 out of a total of 762. The Ministry aims to reopen all closed centers by 2025 through collaborations with local authorities and civil society organizations.

A particular emphasis is placed on reopening centers in rural areas, which account for 43% of the closures.

In addition to reopening centers, the Ministry is expanding activity options for young people, including a range of creative and cultural pursuits such as theater, music, visual arts, cinema, and reading. A notable new initiative is the establishment of 200 electronic game clubs by the end of 2024. This aligns with a partnership agreement between the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games and the Ministry.

The Ministry is also committed to youth development through training programs, covering skills development, entrepreneurship, and personal growth. Partnerships with experts and training institutions enhance the quality of these programs.

To improve the overall experience in youth centers, the Ministry has launched a comprehensive program to renovate and equip reception centers, aiming to enhance service quality and create a more appealing environment both internally and externally. Additionally, the introduction of the “Youth Pass” will simplify access to these services for young people.
