Marrakech: The Rhythms and Sounds of Raï and Reggada Highlight the 53rd FNAP

On Sunday evening, the Bahia Palace in Marrakech hosted an enchanting night featuring intoxicating rhythms and the authentic melodies and sounds of Raï and Reggada, delighting a curious audience eager to discover and reconnect with these captivating musical traditions.

As part of the 53rd edition of the National Festival of Popular Arts (FNAP), the evening began with a stunning performance by Nasr Megri, renowned for his Raï style, powerful voice, and captivating melodies.

This exceptional show captivated festival-goers from the very start, inviting them to enjoy beautiful moments and fully appreciate the unique essence of Raï, a style that has evolved over time.

The musical journey continued with the appearance of the Reggada troupe, led by the talented Maâlem Hamdi Ramdan. This journey offered the festival-goers a close encounter with this dance originating from the Oriental region.

A group of artists, dressed in meticulously crafted and decorated traditional costumes, delivered a brilliant musical performance with precise movements and incredible synchronization, accompanied by vibrant percussion and Al Ghaïta melodies.

The atmosphere at Bahia Palace was enticing, allowing festival-goers of all ages and genders to share beautiful moments with these confirmed talents. Amidst a continuous wave of applause and ovations, they transformed the grand Courtyard of this architectural gem into a space of joy, celebration, and communion.

The combination of Raï and Reggada sounds and rhythms created a unique artistic experience, highlighting the richness and diversity of these musical heritages.

Hamdi Ramdan, Maâlem of the Reggada troupe, expressed his pride and joy in participating in such a significant festival.

« It is an honor for us to represent Reggada here in Marrakech and to share our passion with such a warm audience. The FNAP is an exceptional showcase for appreciating our traditions and culture, and we are delighted to contribute to this celebration, » he added.

With its majestic, imposing, and unique architecture and its radiant history, Bahia Palace served as the ideal setting, offering a warm, inviting atmosphere for an immersion into a heritage that reflects the richness and diversity of national culture.

Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, the Wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region, and several other partners, this edition stands out with the arrangement of two performance stages, namely Place Jemaâ El Fna and Place Jnan El Harti, as well as the first-time choice of Bahia Palace for hosting « Thematic Evenings. »

One of the highlights of this new edition is the organization of an international evening featuring Chinese, Indonesian, and Moroccan artistic groups, along with a special segment titled « Nights of the Stars, » this year paying tribute to the artist and composer Nouamane Lahlou.
