Rising Tuition Fees: Parents’ Concerns Grow

In light of the recent announcement by several private schools regarding the increase in tuition fees for the next academic year, many parents are growing concerned. This decision, justified by the institutions as essential for their economic survival, rekindles the debate over education funding and the role of the state.

From the beginning of the school holidays, parents must already prepare financially for the new school year. This period, traditionally dedicated to rest, turns into a time for budget planning, especially following the announcements of increased tuition fees. Families must balance enjoying their holidays with anticipating the higher costs of the upcoming school year.

If public schools in Morocco received the necessary attention and budget, families wouldn’t be at the mercy of private schools. Currently, neither the ministry nor any other authority controls the tuition fees of private institutions, exposing parents to unpredictable and often significant increases. A well-funded public school system would offer a solid alternative, thus reducing families’ dependence on private schools.
