The cost of financing the social protection project is expected to reach 29 billion dirhams (MMDH) by 2025, said the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, on Tuesday in Rabat.

Speaking during a session of oral questions at the House of Advisors, Mr. Lekjaa stated that since the launch of this project until this July, 17.45 MMDH have been transferred according to the established schedule.

He specified that the amount transferred in July was 2.04 MMDH and that the number of beneficiary families had reached 3.8 million.

The minister emphasized that the project to generalize social protection, launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, constitutes a « social revolution, » noting that the government « has successfully implemented this project according to the schedule set by the framework law. »

Additionally, Mr. Lekjaa pointed out that the sustainability of this large-scale project is « one of the top priorities in budget programming, » explaining that framework law No. 09-21 had defined the fundamental principles of financing, including the revision of current social programs, which exceed 90 programs and incur significant costs.

Among the measures taken to ensure sustainable financing, the minister mentioned the introduction of the social solidarity contribution and the revenues from amnesty contributions.

According to him, the revision of social programs, the sustainability of the social solidarity contribution, and the tax and amnesty contributions would ensure sound financing of the social protection project.
