Dr. Hassan Ali, a public health specialist, stressed the urgent need for the government to establish clear and enforceable standards for hygiene, food handling, and preparation. “Rigorous inspections and severe penalties for non-compliance are essential to ensure adherence to these standards,”
Marouane Qarab, president of the Insaf Association for Consumer Protection, highlighted the importance of consumer education in promoting safe food practices.
“Empowering consumers with knowledge about food safety, their rights, and accessible complaint mechanisms is crucial,” Qarab stated. He emphasized the role of transparent labeling and ingredient information in building consumer trust and fostering a safer food environment.
