Morocco, Jordan’s Probity Authorities Ink MoU to Fight Corruption

Initialled by INPPLC’s President Mohamed Bachir Rachdi and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan’s Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Muhannad Hijazi, the memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two institutions in the prevention and fight against corruption, particularly relating to their institutional capacities’ development.

It concerns conducting scientific and academic studies and research on corruption, enhancing human resources capacities through exchanging visits and organising specialised training programmes. It also provides for sharing information, data and statistics, as well as exchanging experiences, best practices and effective approaches in the legislative and operational fields, in particular for the development, implementation and evaluation of anti-corruption policies and strategies.

During their talks, the two institutions’ Presidents underlined their firm belief that international cooperation and joint action to prevent and combat corruption will significantly contribute to curbing the spread of this phenomenon at national, regional and international levels.

During its stay in Morocco, the Jordanian delegation also held high-level meetings with officials from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Court of Auditors and the Institution of the Kingdom’s Ombudsman, in order to examine means of improving individuals and groups’ enjoyment of their fundamental rights and freedoms, and of putting into practice the principles of democracy and the rule of law.
