Mawazine 2024 sees 2.5 million attendees, over 200 artists perform

The 19th edition of the Mawazine Festival—Rhythms of the World was described by the festival organizers as a tremendous success, featuring unforgettable concerts, key moments, and a turnout of over 2.5 million attendees.

Held from June 20 to 29 in Rabat and Salé under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, the event attracted local and international festivalgoers. According to the Maroc Cultures Association, over 200 artists performed, drawing music enthusiasts from around the globe to celebrate in Rabat and Salé.

 The association, quoted by the press, emphasized that the record-breaking attendance confirms Mawazine’s exceptional global popularity, solidifying its status as one of the most attended music festivals worldwide. The festival’s inclusive, free, and value-driven model again received widespread acclaim. 

 The massive media coverage, evidenced by the presence of over 800 journalists and an average of more than 2,000 media mentions per month, highlights the Mawazine Festival’s importance as a major artistic event on the media scene.

 The festival’s social media presence has also shown its importance, as it is a top trending topic in online searches. The presence of international influencers also confirmed the festival’s appeal to content creators eager to highlight the event while benefiting from the enthusiasm it generates.

 Stronger partnerships with Trip Advisor and Spotify also highlighted the 19th edition, expanding the festival’s worldwide reach and giving Moroccan artists a stage to flourish.

 The festival featured highlights such as Metro Booming’s masterful performance, ATEEZ’s electrifying show, Central Cee’s splendid appearance in traditional Moroccan attire, Burna Boy’s flow, Camila Cabello’s bonding with her audience while enjoying a Sfenj doughnut and Moroccan tea, Nicki Minaj’s triumphant show, and Calvin Harris’s lively rhythms at OLM Souissi. 

 The world-renowned DJ shared Instagram videos of his performance, commenting, “250,000 people in Morocco! Unreal night, thank you!”

 The Mohammed V National Theatre was a hub of diversity and innovation, with Oum Kalthoum’s holographic show, Samira Said’s exceptional performance, and renowned artists like Carole Samaha and Gregory Porter captivating the audience. The Nahda stage featured Balti’s impactful lyrics, Haifa Wehbe’s emotional connection with her Moroccan fans, and energetic performances by Ahmed Saad and Mohamed Ramadan. In Salé, Moroccan artists like Najat Aatabou and Abdelaziz Stati shone, while Bouregreg celebrated global rhythms with Omah Lay and Angelique Kidjo, engaging the audience in a lively atmosphere.

 The statement ended by saying: “ thanks to this collective effort, Mawazine 2024 was a resounding success, marking another memorable chapter in the festival’s history.
