A major bust The port police of Tanger Med have dealt a significant blow to international networks trafficking controlled medications. On the evening of Thursday, August 8th, authorities intercepted more than 180,000 vials of an illicit substance hidden aboard a freight ship. The details of this operation reveal the complexity of such trafficking.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the 182,200 vials contained a medication made from substances subject to strict international regulation. The seizure occurred during a thorough inspection of a freight ship coming from an Asian country and heading to a West African nation.
The container’s accompanying documents declared it to be vehicle spare parts. However, this ruse was quickly uncovered by DGSN agents. Samples were taken by forensic and technical police experts and will undergo extensive analysis.
The judicial police immediately launched an investigation to shed light on this case. The aim is to trace the origin, route, and destinations of these substances, working closely with Interpol’s national offices in the countries where the ship had docked.
