The Rabat Police Prefecture has strongly denied the erroneous allegations circulating on social media and instant messaging platforms, claiming that city police had seized a « Kalashnikov » firearm in a natural park, allegedly carried by an individual.
In a statement intended to clarify the situation and refute these reports that undermine the sense of security, the Rabat Police Prefecture stated that the Judicial Police of the Agdal-Hassan district launched a judicial investigation on Thursday morning under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor after the arrest of a 17-year-old minor found in possession of a plastic object resembling a « Kalashnikov » rifle.
According to the same source, investigations revealed that this plastic object, resembling a firearm, was purchased from an online e-commerce site.
The Rabat Police Prefecture, committed to establishing the truth, reiterates that this was not a real firearm, the statement concluded.
