Parliamentary representative Farida Khenniti, a member of the Progress and Socialism group in the House of Representatives, has expressed concern about the increasing phenomenon of illegal immigration. In a written question to the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, she raised the issue.

In the letter, the MP highlighted that local public opinion in the Nador province has been discussing recent collective attempts by groups of young people to storm the border crossing of the occupied city of Melilla. These attempts, which occurred twice in a short period, aimed to cross illegally to the other side.

Although illegal immigration is not new or unfamiliar to Morocco, Khenniti emphasized the recent alarming rise in this phenomenon. She also mentioned that some criminal networks have become involved in human trafficking and inciting illegal migration through various communication methods. A recent attempt in Beni Ansar, Nador province, was thwarted due to the vigilance of Moroccan security forces, who handled the situation with high professionalism.

The MP inquired about the measures the ministry will take to dismantle these criminal networks, which exploit the social vulnerability of many young people, pushing them toward illegal immigration.
