Mustapha Baitas, the Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister in charge of relations with Parliament and government spokesperson, announced that more than 431,000 widows, supporting 158,000 children, have benefited from direct financial support.

During the weekly press conference following the government council, Baitas explained that the implementation of the social support program has enabled widows, with or without children, to receive direct social assistance. The minimum support for a widow without children is 500 dirhams, whereas before, childless widows had no right to any aid.

The minister added that these allowances are set to increase annually, with a target of 400 dirhams per child by 2026.

Baitas noted that under the previous system, support ranged from 350 to 1050 dirhams for three school-aged children. This year, it ranges between 500 and 1158 dirhams, and could rise to 1233 dirhams next year, and 1300 dirhams by 2026.

Out of the 431,000 widows benefiting from the aid, 346,000 are without children.
