The Moroccan national futsal team is set to compete in the Futsal World Cup (from September 14 to October 6 in Uzbekistan), equipped with both experience and reputation, aiming not only to play a leading role but also to achieve an unprecedented historic success.

Participating in its fourth World Cup, Morocco has established itself as a dominant force in both Arab and African futsal, sending strong signals of its readiness to shine on the global stage.

The Atlas Lions enter the competition as a technically stable team, steadily progressing regionally and continentally, while showing impressive development on the international level.

Earlier this year, Morocco cemented its continental dominance by winning its third consecutive Africa Cup of Nations title in April, following triumphs in 2016 and 2020.

Players like goalkeeper Abdellah Anbia, named best keeper, and Soufiane El Mesrar, top scorer, shone during the African competition, with Bilal Bakkali receiving the best player award.

In June 2023, Morocco also clinched its third consecutive Arab Cup title, following victories against Iraq (3-0) in 2022 and Egypt (4-0) in 2021.

On the world stage, after promising starts in 2012 and 2016, Morocco secured its first-ever World Cup win in 2021, defeating the Solomon Islands (6-0) and drawing against powerhouses like Portugal and Thailand.

With these achievements, Morocco now ranks sixth in the FIFA futsal world rankings, and coach Hicham Dguig was named the best coach in the world in 2023 by Futsal Planet.

Morocco is aiming to continue this momentum at the World Cup in Uzbekistan, where they will face teams like Portugal, Panama, and Tajikistan.
