The European Union has decided to implement a new passport control system for travelers entering and exiting the Schengen area, in response to the increasing demand from Maghreb countries for Schengen visas. This new system will affect both the process of booking visa appointments and the replacement of traditional procedures like passport stamping with the use of digital technologies. According to the French newspaper Le Figaro, starting from November 10, 2024, the European Union will replace traditional passport stamps with automatic electronic scanning at entry and exit points. This system aims to speed up border checks and enhance security by storing data for up to three years.
