International Sports Events and Environmental Awareness in Dakhla

The 14th edition of the World Kitesurfing Championship – Crown Prince Moulay Hassan Cup, and the 3rd edition of the Wingfoil World Championship 2024, will take place in Dakhla from September 29 to October 6, 2024, under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

The « Lagoon Dakhla for Sports Development and Cultural Activities » association announced that these sporting events will feature participants from 17 countries, competing for a prize pool of 40,000 euros. In addition to Morocco, participants from countries such as Australia, Brazil, Japan, and the USA will be present.

Around 70 top athletes will compete in these events. In the men’s kitesurf category, names like Airton Cozzolino, James Carew, and Morocco’s own Ali Beqqali are among the top contenders. In the wingfoil men’s category, stars like Malo Ginol and Wesley Brito will battle it out.

A village focused on ocean conservation will be set up, offering educational workshops and interactive activities for local students, aiming to raise awareness about protecting the oceans. These events also aim to solidify Dakhla’s position as a leading global destination for both sport and environmental protection.
