Record-breaking performance of Morocco’s tourism sector in August 2024

The Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy reported that tourism revenues in foreign currency reached an unprecedented level of 17 billion dirhams in August.

According to a statement from the ministry, « this performance represents a significant increase of nearly 20% compared to August 2023, marking a new record. »

The same source added that « this positive momentum continued throughout the year, with total revenues reaching 76.4 billion dirhams by the end of August 2024, reflecting a 7% growth compared to the same period in 2023. »

Commenting on these results, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, said: « These figures confirm the strong momentum in Morocco’s tourism sector. We achieved a record level of revenues thanks to an exceptional influx of tourists, with 1.8 million visitors in August and 11.8 million since the beginning of the year. »

The minister also emphasized that « these results highlight the success of our roadmap, and we are looking forward to continuing this success by diversifying and enhancing tourism experiences, which will strengthen visitors’ experience and extend their stay. »
