Today, Thursday, Safi customs authorities carried out the destruction of 8.1 tons of hashish (cannabis resin) along with other narcotics recently seized by customs, the Royal Gendarmerie, and judicial police.

The operation, which took place at a factory in the rural commune of Ahad Hrara, about 35 kilometers from Safi, also involved the destruction of 858 kilograms of kif, 1,240 hallucinogenic pills, 0.5 grams of cocaine powder, 120 grams of « tobacco » powder, and 100 grams of « tobacco leaves. »

Mr. Abdellatif Imami, the director of customs and indirect taxes at the Safi office, stated to the Maghreb Arab Press Agency that this operation is the result of joint efforts by the regional security services in Safi and the national judicial police, which thwarted an international drug trafficking attempt at the end of last month involving 8 tons and 125 kilograms of hashish at the port of Safi.

He added, « This operation is part of the ongoing intensified efforts by security services to combat drug trafficking due to its harmful effects on public health and safety. »

The destruction of these drugs was conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor of the Safi First Instance Court, with the presence of a committee composed of representatives from local authorities, civil protection, and various security and health services in the region.
