In the early hours of Saturday, October 5th, a 27-year-old man with a criminal record was arrested by the judicial police in the Béni Makada district of Tangier. He is suspected of committing an armed robbery.
The incident took place on August 30, 2024, when the suspect attacked a man in a public street in the Al Awama neighborhood of Tangier. Under the threat of a knife, the assailant stole the victim’s mobile phone. The robbery was recorded on video and shared on social media, sparking widespread outrage among the public.
Following an extensive investigation, authorities identified the suspect, who had fled the city. Police efforts led to his arrest on Saturday morning.
The suspect is currently in custody and under judicial investigation, supervised by the relevant prosecutor’s office, to clarify the full circumstances surrounding the case.
