The General Secretariat of the Justice and Development Party (PJD) expressed its deep astonishment over the European Court of Justice’s ruling on Friday, October 4, 2024, concerning the 2019 agreements between Morocco and the European Union in the fields of agriculture and fisheries.
In response, the party strongly condemned the decision, reaffirming that Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and its southern provinces is deeply rooted in history and remains non-negotiable for the Moroccan leadership and people. As King Mohammed VI has stated: « Morocco will remain in its Sahara, and the Sahara will remain in its Morocco until the end of time. »
The PJD voiced its strong support for the Moroccan authorities, who have emphasized that Morocco is not at all concerned by this ruling, nor has it been involved in any stage of the case. The party rejected what it sees as unwarranted interference by the European Court in a matter of national sovereignty, raising questions about the court overstepping its jurisdiction.
Lastly, the PJD reaffirmed its full backing of all political and diplomatic measures taken by Morocco to counter what it deems an unjust and biased ruling that disrespects the strong strategic ties between Morocco and the European Union.
