The Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy announced on Wednesday that Morocco’s tourism sector continues its remarkable performance, welcoming 13.1 million tourists during the first nine months of 2024.
According to a statement by the ministry, this impressive achievement represents an increase of about 2 million tourists compared to the same period last year, highlighting Morocco’s growing appeal as an international tourist destination.
September was an especially notable month, with 1.3 million tourists visiting Morocco, marking a 33% increase compared to the same month in the previous year, including a 40% rise in foreign visitors.
Fatima Zahra Ammor, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, emphasized that « the tourism sector in Morocco is achieving record figures. » She noted that « thanks to the wise vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, our country’s international visibility is increasing. The ongoing efforts under the tourism roadmap are bearing fruit. »
She highlighted that the increase in flight availability, promotional campaigns, and the development of infrastructure and unique tourism experiences contribute to this exceptional momentum.
She concluded by stating, « This new record of visitors fills us with pride and strengthens our determination to reach our ambitious goal of 26 million tourists by 2030. »
