The Criminal Chamber of the Casablanca Court of Appeal postponed, this Friday, the examination of the “Desert Escobar” case to October 25.
The session’s president delayed the proceedings due to a strike by Casablanca lawyers, who suspended their participation in criminal sessions in response to a call from the Moroccan Bar Association for a two-week period.
The president informed the accused, who are detained in Oukacha prison and connected via video conferencing, of the postponement.
The defendants are being prosecuted for falsifying official documents, creating and using fake agreements, participating in an agreement for drug possession, trafficking, transportation, exportation, and attempted exportation, as well as fraud and abuse of power.
On September 22, the investigating judge decided to prosecute 23 accused individuals, including Saïd Naciri, former president of Wydad Casablanca football club, and Abdelnabi Bioui, former president of the Oriental region and former leader of the PAM party, among 25 people, including officials and elected representatives. They are being held in custody following their referral by the public prosecutor.
