The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, stated that the speech delivered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI yesterday, on the occasion of the opening of the first session of the fourth legislative year of the eleventh legislature, serves as a call to adopt a professional management of parliamentary diplomacy to keep up with the positive momentum surrounding the national cause.

In a special interview with « Medi 1 TV, » Alami emphasized that the royal speech called for a reconsideration of the composition of the parliamentarians representing Morocco in international parliaments. He noted that the structure of the Directorate of Foreign Relations and Cooperation within the House of Representatives needs to be strengthened with additional expertise to better advocate before these parliaments.

He highlighted that the Moroccan Parliament is part of 18 multilateral parliamentary forums in Europe, Latin America, and Africa, affirming that Morocco’s presence, either as an observer or a full member in these forums, « enables us to consistently defend the national cause. »

He further noted the qualitative shift in the national issue, citing the support of several permanent members of the Security Council, such as France and the United States, for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara. He added that other countries have officially endorsed Morocco’s stance on the Sahara through statements, such as Spain, or through direct support like opening consulates in the cities of Laayoune and Dakhla.

Alami concluded that the royal speech calls for clarifying the foundations of Morocco’s position and working to persuade the few remaining countries that still « oppose » Morocco regarding its Sahara, in the context of promoting the national cause.
