The Boujdour Maritime Fisheries Delegation announced a ban on navigation within the Boujdour maritime area for traditional fishing boats on Thursday and Friday, October 17th and 18th. This decision aims to ensure the safety of fishermen due to the harsh weather conditions expected in the region.

The announcement stated that « the coasts of Boujdour’s maritime area will experience, on Thursday and Friday, northeastern winds with speeds reaching up to 40 km/h, along with waves that could reach heights of up to two meters. »

In response to this warning, the decision to halt navigation during this period was taken to safeguard the lives of those working at sea.

Additionally, the General Directorate of Meteorology forecasted cloudy weather accompanied by light rain across various parts of the country on Thursday, including Tangier, the Mediterranean coast, the Rif, the Saiss, and inland areas like Gharb.

Cloud cover will vary between overcast and partly cloudy in the Atlas mountains, while the far south of the kingdom will experience thunderstorms, accompanied by relatively strong wind gusts.

Regarding temperatures, they are expected to range from 4 to 10 degrees in the Atlas, Rif, and eastern highlands, and from 21 to 32 degrees in the south. The southern coasts and southeast will see a rise in temperatures, while other regions will experience a drop.

As for sea conditions, the sea will be slightly to moderately rough along the Mediterranean coast and the Strait of Gibraltar, but it will become rough to very rough in the afternoon north of Tan-Tan, while the rest of the coasts will remain between slightly rough and rough.

This precautionary decision emphasizes the importance of fishermen’s safety amidst the country’s changing weather, highlighting efforts to protect lives in the face of natural hazards.
