The Laâyoune police reacted swiftly and seriously to a video posted on social media on Thursday, October 17, where a woman accuses the police in Kénitra of falsely implicating her brother, leading to his imprisonment.

An investigation into the records held by the police services in Kénitra revealed that this case dates back to December 2022 and was overseen by the competent public prosecutor. The case involved the counterfeiting of national currency and its circulation. The investigation identified several suspects who were subsequently arrested and brought to justice.

Further investigations identified the brother of the woman seen in the video, suspected of being connected to the criminal network involved in currency counterfeiting. He was found injured in the streets of Kénitra after a physical assault and was taken to the hospital, where he remained under medical supervision.

A background check in the national police database revealed that the suspect was subject to two nationwide search warrants issued by the judicial authorities of Kénitra and Sidi Ifni, related to charges of assault with a weapon, illegal migration, and human trafficking.

The suspect, known for his numerous past criminal records, was placed in custody under judicial supervision and was referred to the court on January 13, 2023.
By clarifying these facts, the Laâyoune police stress that all procedures were carried out in full compliance with legal norms and professional standards, and they reserve the right to take legal action concerning the defamatory allegations against police officers.
