The Administrative Court of Tangier ruled on Monday to dismiss Mohamed Charqawi, the president of the Tangier City District, along with three of his deputies, following multiple sessions examining the violations they were involved in.
This ruling follows a previous decision by Younes El Tayazi, the Wali of the Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, who suspended Charqawi and his deputies from their duties weeks ago, pending a final decision on their dismissal.
The implicated officials were involved in administrative irregularities, such as issuing illegal certificates for water and electricity network connections, and granting commercial and construction permits beyond their authority.
This decision highlights the judiciary’s commitment to addressing breaches of transparency and integrity in local governance, marking a step towards enhanced oversight and accountability in managing local institutions.
