Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget under the Minister of Economy and Finance, announced that Morocco is set to sign an agreement with the International Federation of Football (FIFA) in December. This agreement will include tax incentives and exemptions for FIFA to support Morocco’s preparations for a major global event. Lekjaa made this statement on Friday during a general discussion of the 2025 Finance Bill before Parliament, noting that the government is working to create a favorable tax environment for FIFA’s presence in Morocco, including exemptions from corporate tax, income tax, and VAT. He explained that these measures are part of an attractive tax system aimed at hosting FIFA in the country. This announcement came in response to Abdellah Bouanou, leader of the Justice and Development Party parliamentary group, who requested that these tax exemptions be formalized in an official agreement to be submitted to the government for approval and then to Parliament as per legal procedures. This upcoming agreement aims to strengthen cooperation with FIFA and facilitate preparations for hosting a global sporting event.
