Seven Moroccan Adventurers Explore Colombia’s ‘Lost City’

• A team of seven Moroccan adventurers set out to explore “La Ciudad Perdida,” an ancient site hidden in Colombia’s northeastern jungles. Built by the indigenous Tayrona tribe over 650 years before Peru’s famed Machu Picchu, this site was abandoned during the Spanish colonization in the 16th century.

These Moroccan women, including Yasmina Sia-Tail, Latifa Jabri, and Meryem Alaoui, are the first from their country to reach the Lost City after a three-day trek through the Sierra Nevada. The site is one of Colombia’s most important archaeological treasures, preserving the heritage of the Tayrona people.

In an interview, Yasmina Sia-Tail expressed deep appreciation for the warm welcome from the local indigenous communities who continue to uphold their ancestral traditions. She also noted that this adventure is a testament to Moroccan women’s resilience and their love for challenges.

This Colombian journey is a crowning achievement for these explorers, who have previously scaled Mount Toubkal, Kilimanjaro, and visited iconic sites like Everest Base Camp and Salkantay in Peru.
