The Portuguese Quarter Theatre in El Jadida recently hosted the artistic performance « Au milieu des terres / بوسط الطريق, » blending poetry, dance, and scientific elements to honor the values and spirit of the Mediterranean.
This show, directed by the artistic research group GdRA and supported by the French Institute in El Jadida, takes the audience on an immersive journey across the Mediterranean shores, highlighting the tales, languages, myths, and truths that have united the region’s people for thousands of years.
Held on Tuesday evening, the performance brought together various artists alongside researchers like anthropologist Monir Kilani and ocean expert Catherine Gindel. Together, they went beyond traditional theatre to delve into the complexities of Mediterranean issues, especially focusing on the fragility of marine ecosystems.
In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, Julian Cassier, founder of GdRA, expressed that the collaboration with artists and researchers in this show brings dance, music, and storytelling together to give voice to human and environmental experiences in the Mediterranean.
With choreographed scenes and music, this artistic tribute honors the shores of the Mediterranean and tales of journey and exchange. Additional performances are scheduled in cities like Meknes and Casablanca, inviting audiences to experience this vibrant live masterpiece.
