The provisional death toll from Tuesday’s deadly floods in eastern Spain has reached 158 people, with rescue services continuing their search for the missing, according to a statement made on Thursday.
Of these victims, 155 were reported in the Valencia region, which was the hardest hit. Two fatalities were also recorded in Castile-La Mancha and one in Andalusia, according to the same report.
The previous death toll from these deadly floods stood at 95.
Since the heavy rains began on Tuesday evening, the Civil Guard has conducted 3,400 rescue operations in affected areas of Valencia province. Approximately 300 people remain isolated, and an unknown number of others are still unaccounted for.
Over 1,200 military personnel are on the ground, particularly in the Valencia region, working alongside firefighters, police officers, and rescue teams to locate any survivors and clear the affected areas.
