The Ministry of the Interior has disclosed, through a draft decree to approve official population figures, that Morocco’s population reached 36,828,330 as of September 1st, based on the latest general population and housing census results.
This draft, affirmed by Ahmed Lahlimi, High Commissioner for Planning, indicates that Morocco’s population has grown by 2,980,088 since the 2014 census, reflecting a growth rate of 8.80%.
The decree will soon be submitted to the government council for approval.
The report also notes that the total number of Moroccan households stands at 9,275,038, an increase of 1,961,232 households since 2014.
Regarding foreign residents in Morocco, their number has reached 148,152, up by 61,946 from the previous census ten years ago, indicating a noticeable rise in the foreign population within the country.
